 Music player upgrade offers improved audio playback
LONDON/PARIS, 20th MARCH 2017 – Audirvana Plus, the desktop music player for macOS, has released the latest version of its software which now includes integrated MQA audio technology.  The MQA Core decoder, contained within the new Audirvana Plus 3 player, enables the first origami ‘unfold’ and also authenticates the file using a blue or green light to confirm that the sound is identical to that of the source material.
In addition to optimising sound quality and authenticating file provenance, Audirvana Plus 3 also includes the following benefits:
•    A complete library management system with full metadata and cover art display for all music, whether stored locally or streamed;
•    Integration with premium streaming services such as Tidal and Qobuz.
The MQA Core decoder’s initial file ‘unfold’ recovers all the direct music-related information and makes it available for either analogue or digital output at 88.2 or 96 kHz. With a non MQA-enabled device, any listener can experience enhanced sound. When teamed with an MQA-enabled device, the listener benefits from the highest possible sound quality, as the music will continue to unfold with precise file and platform-specific DAC compensation and management.

"The integration of MQA technology is a major step toward enabling all Mac users to hear their favourite artists as if they were right there in front of them,” commented Audirvana founder Damien Plisson.

Added Spencer Chrislu, MQA Director of Content, “We’re pleased to be working with Audirvana in the quest to bring the sound of the studio to everyone.  Audirvana presents music fans with a great user experience in both functionality and sound that reminds us all of our deep connection to great music.”

Current pricing information on Audirvana Plus 3:
•    EURO €64.00 (exc. VAT) for new customers. This license currently includes a free three months trial of TIDAL HiFi, which brings access to MQA on TIDAL Masters.
•    EURO €34 (exc. VAT) for any Audirvana Plus user of a previous version.
•    Free upgrade for those who have purchased Audirvana Plus 2 since Xmas 2016.
 •    A free 15-day trial version of Audirvana Plus is now available. Further details here.

MQA – the tech which delivers master quality audio in a file small enough to stream – made its streaming debut on global music and entertainment platform, TIDAL, at the beginning of this year, and is also available internationally on several music download services.
